SCSI Transfer

WARNING Read before use!

SCSI transfer has many benefits over SDS transfer. However, any SCSI hard drives or other devices connected to the SCSI bus are, potentially, liable to data loss when transferring samples (for example, E-mu has implemented a feature in their latest OS to protect hard drives when connected to Win 95 machines). Square Circle Software cannot accept any loss or damage resulting from use of SCSI devices. Please check manufacturerÆs literature and website information before use.

Recommended cards for SCSI transfer include all the Adaptec range (WaveSurgeon was developed with a 2920 card). An ISA card will suffice, however! Check that the latest versions of drivers are installed before use, including the wnaspi32.dll file (available from AdaptecÆs website).

Power all external devices up first (including the sampler and zip drives, for example), before turning the computer on. DO NOT CONNECT OR DISCONNECT SCSI DEVICES WITH THE POWER ON! This may cause serious damage.

All SCSI devices should be set to their own device ID to avoid conflicts.

Use good quality cables. Poor cabling is a major cause of transfer problems. Devices should be properly terminated at the ends of the SCSI chain.

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of your samplerÆs operating system.

Square Circle Software is not responsible for hardware problems encountered (we just donÆt have time to fix every possible problem!), although we would like to hear of any solutions to difficulties encountered. Please contact the manufacturer in question for technical support.
